• What's Changing at Gemma's Hope:

    Supporting Families Consistently & Sustainably

    Starting May 1, 2026

At Gemma’s Hope, our mission has always been to support families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss with compassion, dignity, and meaningful resources. Every program we create is rooted in the belief that every baby’s life matters and every family deserves to feel seen, supported, and remembered.

As we’ve grown, so has the need—and the cost—of providing that support. Over the past year, we’ve taken a close look at how to continue serving families well while building a model that is sustainable long-term. These changes allow us to reach more families, support hospitals more consistently, and ensure that what we provide is both meaningful and accessible when it’s needed most.

    Bereavement Book Carts Retiring

After thoughtful consideration, we are retiring our Book Cart Program and will no longer be shipping or restocking carts or books in hospitals. While this program has impacted many families over the years, rising costs and logistical challenges made it difficult to sustain at scale.

Families & current partner hospitals will continue to be served through our two new programs: the Free Book Fund & Held in Hope Care Packages.

Free Book Fund Replacing Book Carts

Families can now request a complimentary pregnancy and infant loss book through a simple online form. Once submitted, they’ll receive a code to select a book from our online store at no cost, with shipping included.

This approach gives families the freedom to choose the resource that feels most helpful to them, when they’re ready.

Authors are encouraged to donate copies of their books related to pregnancy & infant loss to this program for distribution.

Held in Hope Care Packages Launching

We are introducing Held in Hope Care Packages, which will be provided directly through partner hospitals—one for each baby. These thoughtfully curated packages include comfort items, keepsakes, and gentle guidance to support families in the immediate moments after loss.

This shift allows us to offer something more personal, consistent, and meaningful at the bedside, while also simplifying distribution for hospitals. These care packages will effectively replace the Book Carts that are donated to hospitals>families.

    Hospital Training + Incentives

We are expanding opportunities for hospitals to access specialized training in perinatal loss care through group licensing. Hospitals can also earn vouchers for Gemma’s Hope resources by encouraging staff participation and course completion.

This program supports both staff development and patient care—equipping teams with the tools they need while also bringing additional resources back to the families they serve.
