Volunteer FAQs
If you have questions, we have answers!
❓ Where do you need the most help?
We always need support with skills-based projects like grant writing, sponsorship outreach, event planning, and research. Many of these can be done remotely and on a flexible schedule—just let us know you’re interested in helping where it’s most needed!
❓ Can kids help too?
Yes! We offer hands-on opportunities that are great for kids (typically ages 5+), especially for crafting and assembling items.
❓ Can I volunteer remotely?
Absolutely. Many of our opportunities can be done from home, including research, writing, social media support, and outreach.
❓ Do you offer service hours for students?
Yes, we do! We offer both remote and in-person opportunities that can count toward service hours.
❓ Do I need experience or special skills?
Not at all. Some roles use specific skills, but many opportunities are simple and easy to learn—we’ll help guide you.
❓ How much time do I need to commit?
There’s no minimum requirement for most projects. You can help as much or as little as your schedule allows. Some volunteer teams (like event planning) may have a minimum of just a couple hours per month.
❓ Do I have to be local to volunteer?
No! Many of our volunteers support us remotely from all over the country.
❓ What is the Volunteer Recognition Program?
The Volunteer Recognition Program tracks and celebrates the time, skills, and impact of our volunteers through logged remote hours, attending volunteer events, & supporting with your skills & talents. By participating, volunteers become eligible for recognition by being entered into a monthly drawing for $10.
